A good site for investors

A good friend of mine, Ayush and his brother Pratyush write an excellent blog.
They have also recently started a new website http://www.screener.in/
This, I feel, is an excellent website for any serious investor. Not only does it give you screeners and filters, but it also gives you last 10 years' data as well as numerous value-adding content, email updates, etc.
Registration is free. Do make good use of it.

Disclosures;
1. I am not connected in any professional way with the above website.
2. One of the owners of the site, Ayush, is a good friend of mine. However, he did not tell me to write about/promote the site. In fact, to be honest, he does not even know that I am writing this post. My sole purpose behind writing this is that investors should be made aware of this good resource.
3. I am a user of the above mentioned site.

Hi Neeraj,

I have asked this question in Rohit's blog would love to hear your opinion as well. Below is the question.

Just wanted to know that should a value investor give any importance to "market valuations" when he or she is putting money in a particular value stock?

For example, Lets say a stock is trading at a PE of 2 and the market is trading at a PE of 22. Assuming that the stock has been analysed as a "value stock" using various parameters. But at the same time there is a significant risk of "market correction" as market PE is at 22. I am referring to a situation like January 2008 top of the market. Should we continue to put money even though the market is expensive? Or should we reduce the amount to be invested as the market goes up even though we might have a value stock in hand? Thanks.

Screener.in is really good. The fact that it lets you define your own financial ratios and your own filtering criteria makes it invaluable for mining out potential value investment targets. As far as I know Screener.in is a one of a kind website for Indian stock markets. Nothing out there matches the functionality provided by this website - not even close

Hi Neeraj,

Its been quite some time since we last spoke. Hope you are doing well :)

I tried the screener and it looks good. It does throw a lot of errors when you try new screens...I think the query bombs and the error messages are not very helpful. But its a very promising start. Yes, I too am checking the authenticity of the data with Moneycontrol.com (I hope the moneycontrol data is current and authentic :)). Will call you up one of these days and hopefully we can catch up.

Best, Vidyanshu.
